Zimmerman to be charged in Martin's death....SO WHAT

My Thoughts, My Experiences, My Life: "If you are jumping up and down because Zimmerman is going to be charged you are stupid. Yea Im glad that Trayvon MAY get the justice he deserves but look how long we had to wait. Dont forget that we had to fight. They were going to let Zimmerman go free. They had no plans on sending him to jail and don't you think for one minute that if this was turned around that this would have that same turnout. As far as Im concerned students still need to protest, people still need to march and every person of color should still be wearing a hoodie. Don't you think because you are not black that this doesn't effect you, or wont happen to you. I am still outraged at what has happened and everyone else should still be too. White people are never fully punished for the fucked up shit they do. Casey Anthony ring any bells... nope cause we have already forgotten about her. Zimmerman will probably get a slap on the wrist and we will acknowledge that its not right, eat our dinner, turn off CNN, go to sleep and soon forget Trayvon Martin as well......."

Are We Ready to Start Another Civil Rights Movement

My Thoughts, My Experiences, My Life: "So as many of you know a Grand Jury didnt meet today for the Trayvon Marin case. How does that make you feel?? I honestly dont feel enough is being done by the black community. We are not mad enough. We are  not doing enough. We say this is not right, we complain a little and we go on eating our dinner. I feel like one day everyone is going to forget about Trayvon and go back to pretending the racism does not exist. So how many more have to die??? And the excuses people are making for Zimmerman are ridiculous! He has shaken baby syndromn, he felt his like was in danger, and its all a bunch of bull! I feel Zimmerman was aware of what he was doing, he say Trayvon and wanted him dead. So again I ask how many more are going to die???"

The Associated Press: 2 charged with murder in Tulsa shooting rampage: "2 charged with murder in Tulsa shooting rampage
By JUSTIN JUOZAPAVICIUS, Associated Press – 4 days ago
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Two Oklahoma men accused in a rampage that left three people dead have been charged with murder.
Alvin Watts and Jake England appeared via closed-circuit television from jail for their first court appearance Monday. A judge set bond at $9.16 million apiece.
Both are charged with three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of shooting with the intent to kill and one count of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Neither man had an attorney present Monday. The judge set an April 16 court date.
Police describe the suspects as white and the victims as black but can't yet say if the attacks were racially motivated. Police are examining whether England was trying to avenge the death of his father, who was killed two years ago."

Zimmerman to be charged in Martin's death

George Zimmerman expected to be charged in Trayvon Martin’s death | The Lookout - Yahoo! News: "Angela Corey, the special prosecutor investigating the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, is scheduled to hold a 6 p.m. press conference in Jacksonville, Fla., on Wednesday, where she is expected to charge George Zimmerman in the 17-year-old's killing.
It's not clear what the specific criminal charges will be. Corey's office confirmed the press conference but did not elaborate on the details.
The announcement comes a day after Zimmerman's attorneys said that they were dropping the case because their client had stopped communicating with them. On Sunday, Zimmerman launched a website seeking donations for his legal and living expenses.
Zimmerman, a neighborhood watchman, shot and killed Martin on Feb. 26 in Sanford, Fla., a gated community outside of Orlando. He told police he was attacked by Martin, and was acting in self-defense.
According to the Associated Press, Zimmerman's arrest is also expected soon.
Earlier this week, Corey announced the case would not go to a grand jury."

Changes in Pell Grant for 2012-2013 School Year

Hey guys,
I attend the University of Memphis and I received an email informing me of the changes in the Pell Grant. It is basically saying that students are now being limited to only receiving  the grant for 12 full time semesters or until their Bachelors degree is earned( which ever comes first). This also includes the  percentage of Federal Pell Grant the student has received from all post-secondary institutions, for a maximum of 600%.
If you have exceeded the 12-semester maximum, you will lose eligibility for additional Pell Grants beginning the 2012-13 school year.  Equivalency is calculated by adding together the percentage of your Pell Grant eligibility that you received each year to determine whether your total amount exceeds 600%.

*** Remember this was sent to a University of Memphis student, however since this is a federal grant, I believe it effects all students.*****

Whitney Houston drowned in a foot of hot water, autopsy says - CNN.com

Whitney Houston drowned in a foot of hot water, autopsy says - CNN.com: "Los Angeles (CNN) -- Whitney Houston drowned face down in a tub of "extremely hot water" about 12 inches deep, the final autopsy report on the singer's death said.
The Los Angeles County coroner ruled that Houston's February 11 death was an accidental drowning with the "effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use" as contributing factors.
The coroner's report stopped short of detailing what happened to Houston, but HLN's Dr. Drew Pinsky, an addiction medicine specialist, examined the autopsy report for CNN and suggested she might have suffered a seizure brought on by the use of cocaine possibly combined with a withdrawal from alcohol and a prescription sedative.
An empty bottle of the Xanax was found in her room, but the level of the sedative found in her blood was low, he said. Empty beer bottles were also found, but alcohol was not detected in her body, he said"

Memphis Names Street After Dr. King

Memphis finally to name street after King - CNN.com: "(CNN) -- Forty-four years after the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was gunned down on the balcony of a Memphis hotel, the Tennessee city is overcoming what some call protracted guilt and embarrassment, and naming a street in his honor.
A nearly 1-mile stretch of Linden Avenue will be renamed Dr. M.L. King Jr. Avenue on Wednesday, the anniversary of the civil rights leader's assassination.
The honor has been a long time coming.
More than 900 U.S. cities have streets named after King. The largest concentration is in the South, led by Georgia, which has more than 70 roads named after the Atlanta native, according to an article by Derek H. Alderman of East Carolina University in the New Georgia Encyclopedia.

More than 900 U.S. cities have streets named after the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., who was slain in Memphis in 1968.
But in the city where he died, the omission has been, to many, glaring."
